Bingham'sCalder Mountain Lodge is located on the northernmost point of Prince of Wales Island, allowing easy access to some of southeast Alaska’s finest fishing.  Halibut, Red Snapper and many varieties of Salmon are plentiful in Sumner Strait, so you’ll want to plan the time of your vacation according to the type of fish you are most interested in catching. King Salmon are most plentiful from mid-June through early July, followed by Silver Salmon from July to September. Halibut are abundant all season.

Amazing Halibut Fishing

One of southeast Alaska’s most productive salt water fishing areas, Sumner Strait, sustains large populations of halibut, cod, and red snapper. All five species of Pacific salmon migrate through the strait on their way to the streams and rivers of Alaska and British Columbia to spawn. Huge numbers move right past the lodge. Fabulous salt water fishing is practically on our doorstep. You can just walk outside and catch fish! The calm, protected waters add to the enjoyment to fishing in Pt. Baker, Alaska.
